"Reflective Christmas Sunset"
Just after I finished eating my Christmas dinner I stepped outside for a cigarette. I looked to the west and saw the sun setting and it was throwing off some really wonderful colors. Being that I was in a neighborhood loaded with houses where I was visiting I grabbed my coat and headed for an area I have previously taken a magnificent sunset in the past (The East Hanover Sunset). It was a race against time because I saw how low the sun was already and the colors seemed to be peaking. I felt my cars speed increasing trying to beat the clock and when I made it into the area I was amazed to see these colors blazing in the sky. I was so worried about losing the color I stopped my car in the right lane of a 4 lane road, put my emergency flashers on (this WAS an emergency! right?) and grabbed my camera, bipod & Cokin Sunset Filter, jumped over a snow bank & the guard rail and started cranking off some shots. This was the result !!!
I was able to capture the blue part of the sky reflecting off the small frozen stream (bottom left) that runs up to the middle of the shot that adds special character & IMO just simply AWESOME!!! I was freaking out on the side of the road like a little kid and couldn't wait to get home to see it on the large screen (and to warm up I was FROZEN Solid). I hope you enjoy it as much as I do, this was one of those captures that really makes you proud to be a photographer !!! Regards, ~Bill~

If your not aware, Nikon has released a "MAJOR" FIRMWARE UPDATE on 12/16/08 bringing us up from Ver. A)1.03 & B)1.03 to Version A)1.10 & B)1.10 This is a HUGE UPDATE and contains 'MANY' VERY VALUABLE FIXES & UPGRADES to include Upgrades to the 51 point AF 'SPEED' which I have just tested and is BLAZING fast Auto Focusing using 51 Point now! I would say it has made it 75% FASTER !!! I mean it is VERY FAST grabbing and locking on in 51 point mode now, just WOW !!! Many more upgrades, to read them all go to the following link for the new features & the FILE DOWNLOAD . . . (*The link below is for the U.S.A.
