Decembers Photo of The Day Gallery
"Natures Crossing"
~ please view at X2Large for best detail ~
I shot this last week the same day I took the Little Red Bridge shot & my Christmas card shot. It's on the opposite side of the street on the same little river. Shot from street level looking down I decided to go with a portrait length because it just looked so wonderful in the view finder with the little bits of snow coming out to the rivers edge and the light was just perfectly coming down on that fallen tree to highlight it along with the deep reflections towards the back of the river turn.
"This is one of my Favorite B&W shots of This Year" and just had to post it before the gallery is closed for the year. I did some selective dodging & burning on the river bank snow and the water to bring the highlights out but the light patterns you see are all mother nature. It was like she was showing off the snow in the dark river water. I also softened the focus a bit to add a peaceful feel.
* I have Increased the size availability in this gallery so you can view this larger because you just have to see the details in the reflections and how the light is hitting the snow areas in this one, so PLEASE view this at X2Large to see full detail & effect of the light & shadows of this one, this is one shot I really am PROUD of and glad I could fit it in my '08 gallery for you to see!
PS: Thanks for all the wonderful comments on my 'Insense Rose' yesterday they really brought a smile to my face. Oh you might wanna see that one at X2Large as well, you can actually see the texture I laid into now at that size !!
