Bill Pador > 2/4/09 0630hrs. Est. Good Morning - Well "I'M BACK" 100% Today !(well maybe 99.6% but who's counting LOL) I am feeling like a million bucks compared to 48 hours ago, real tired since I've been up for 2 days with no sleep but my pain is fully under control and after I post this image I'm off for a few hours of sleep. Thank You all for the wonderful encouraging comments & prayers the last few days during one of my monthly DOWN TIMES LOL. Hell I gotta laugh about it now, since I couldn't laugh 48 hours ago. Hopefully I will stay comfortable for a few weeks now.

This Young Lad is my best friends Mom's New 12 Week old kitten that I took a few shots of last night since he's so darn cute. Forgive me for now but I can't remember his name (*OH It's "FUSSY"), but he was certainly a very cool cat, plays nice and has one of the most soft & beautiful tiger decorated coats I've ever seen on a cat and those eyes just beam all kinds of yellows & greens. I have a few more shots of him I have to develop yet but once I find a good one of his full coat I'll post it so you can see how cool he looks.

BTW: Any of you Cat Experts have any idea what type of kitty he may be with this coat & markings ? UPDATE: (*response by LaneM) - "Bill,Your cat is a Silver Tabby. Notice the black "M" stripe just above his eyes. This is the definitive marking for a Tabby Cat" = 'Thank You Lane for your help in Identifying this cute little guys breed'~Bill~

Bill Pador > "Commemorative Rope"
The story behind this image actually means a lot to me. To the simple viewer it's a piece of rope wrapped around a piling which is part of my Tiki bar as part of the pier I built around the bar. I liked the shadow & natural light that was being cast on it early yesterday morning, thus taking the shot. But after looking at it I remembered how important this slice of rope was to me.

It's actually a slice of my life with great meaning behind it. This rope was used to fly the Main U.S.A. Flag over the United States Military Academy 'WEST POINT' where I was stationed as a military police officer from '85-'88. It flew the flag for exactly 1 year over 'Trophy Point' over looking the Hudson River which West point guarded during the civil war before it's replaced with a new rope & flag. On the 365th day the U.S. flag was flown on it for the last time, but at the end of the day a special ceremony took place, in MY HONOR!. The West Point honor guard performed the ceremony by firing a 21 gun salute and then a canon volley, the flag was lowered while being saluted by some very important people, then folded according to military guidelines with the fired shells from the 21 gun salute being tucked inside the flag. Then the rope was cut from the pole and saluted. Both were then presented to me for my years of service to the military as a departing gift before I retired.

I have the flag encased in a shadow box in my home and had that rope laying around for many years before making it part of my bar and had forgotten all about the honor that went into that silly piece of rope until I shot this image which brought back a lot of memories. Well I hope you all enjoyed knowing the history behind this image and that piece of rope, kind of gives a little more then just an image today.

Bill Pador > "Christmas Horns"

The Horn Challenge...12/22/08
The Challenge: Show us your interpretation of the word, "Horn."
The Participants: Kre8ive, John (300m), Karina Boese, The Curious Camel, Creative Deviance, Johnloguk, Lady Kate, MyKey, Karina Boese, Trevlan, and myself.
The Result:"Christmas Horns"
I had decided on a totally different shot for this challenge but due to technical difficulty I was forced to change course. I was going to use my Italian Horn necklace pendant surrounded by gems on a mirror as a macro shot but I couldn't get the clasp undone because it's stuck & bent. It hasn't been off my neck in 8 years (when I had my spinal surgery LOL) so I give you this shot. While scrambling my brain on what to do I thought I would look on my Christmas tree to see if I had any horn ornaments, bravo I did and I choose these 2 to set the shot up. I hung them staggered front to back and used a medium DOF to blur the back one out. I also used a gold ball that has a lot of texture on it to fill the gap in the middle, set a few tree lights in strategic positions to allow for nice shadows & highlights and went for the shot. I got what I needed in 3 takes and then headed for CS3. Adjusted the curve slightly and then applied a few filters in OnOne Photo Tools & NIK Pro Effex, finishing off with sharpening and a custom frame developed in Pro Frames 3.1.

So I was able to finish the challenge and do it with a holiday theme as well. Killed 2 birds with one stone, yea for me LOL.
