Bill Pador > "Shades of Grey"
Today's image comes from an old idea with a new twist. The classic side by side crystal glasses filled with water with my flair added. The idea of this capture was to somehow manage multiple SHADES OF GREY through out the entire image. I wanted to challenge myself with this one, it took quite a while to figure out how I was going to complete it (about 4 hours) but I succeeded and quite happy with the results.

Study the image and you will see that I completed my idea by having shades of gray blended into black in all quadrants. The glasses, water, stems, background and even the frame reverse the shades from side to side and top to bottom. Even the top of the water line is shaded different on each side.

I would love to explain the set up but it is so detailed that I would be here forever, but let it be known that there are NO Photoshop tricks in this image, it was ALL done with lighting techniques along with Shutter Speed, Aperture and ISO settings. The background is 4 different sheets of poster board (2 white 2 black) laid out side by side on the wall and table surface. Lighting was provided by a single 60 watt fluorescent desk lamp positioned high above and slightly off center and then angled into the background to change the shade of the poster board. The framing contains 4 samples of color taken with the eye dropper directly off the image and then the final out side frame created in OnOne Pro Frame 3.1

Shutter Speed: 1/6 Sec.
AP: f/32
ISO 800

The image was originally shot in RAW format and then converted in PS using Camera RAW with only small adjustments made to the total black levels and then a few dust spots removed on the right glass from the paper towel lint I missed while cleaning the glasses prior to the shot LOL. Once in CS3 I used Alien Skin Exposure 2 B&W Film filter for the conversion using the ILFORD HP5 Plus 400 (Grain Off) Black & White Fil Push filter.

*PS: (2) Other color images that were shot during this project can be seen in my DAILY 'EXTRAS GALLERY' HERE

Bill Pador > This Squirrel happened upon this duel branch and I managed to catch the scene which I thought was so interesting. Look at the squirrels expression, it's priceless !
Bill Pador > One of my specialty artistic shots of a simple scene of a pen a few slices of paper and my reading glasses. The writing is behind the glasses which is being magnified. A quick Black & White conversion along with adding some old time grain topped the capture off. Makes a great piece of wall art, I should know I have one hanging on MY Wall ! *This image is for sale in the "Photo Art 4 Sale" Gallery Makes a great conversational wall piece

Bill Pador > This is the back side of an old Caboose that must have been repainted recently. It had some really good vivid color combinations on it along with good contrast & saturation. If you look into the mesh window guard you can actually see the clear blue sky through the window on the opposite side that bleeds through the image adding to the awesome color contrast & saturation here.
